1 Installation Instructions

1.1 Short description

General

The HiPath TAPI 120 enables Microsoft TAPI applications to control assigned telephones.

HiPath TAPI 120 is derived from CTI TAPI 3P. Running both TAPI drivers on the same machine is no possible.

Features

TAPI application: Example

The easiest way to work with TAPI is to use the default Windows application Dialer. It is possible to start outgoing calls with this application.

1.2 Requirements

Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4

incl. TAPI-update to TAPI-Version 2.1, incl. Year-2000-Update and incl. Internet Explorer Version 4.01 SP2

1.3 Installation preparations

Preparations under Windows 95

HiPath TAPI 120 requires TAPI version 2.0. By default Windows 95 supports TAPI 1.4. Therefor a TAPI update to version 2.1 has to be installed under Windows 95. You can find the update file(s) in the internet on the page:

Install this TAPI update only on PCs with Windows 95! 

Updating TAPI 2.1 for Windows 95:

Proceed the following steps only under Windows 95:

Check the existance of the Telephony symbol under Start - Settings - Control Panel
If this symbol ist not existing, change to the system directory on the PC and rename the file TELEPHON.CP$ to TELEPHON.CPL. 
Change to the folder with the TAPI update file. Execute the update file Tapi2195.exe. 
The TAPI update proceeds. 
Then restart the PC. 

1.4 Installation and configuration of HiPath TAPI 120

1.4.1 Installation of HiPath TAPI 120

 
If (another) CTI TAPI is installed on the PC, you have to uninstall this version before installing HiPath TAPI 120. For uninstalling this driver please follow the description in Uninstall HiPath TAPI 120
Furthermore you have to find and delete the file CSTA2Ext.dll on the PC. 

Installation media

The installation media for HiPath TAPI 120 (e.g. CD) containes the following setup files:

To install HiPath TAPI 120 proceed as follows:

Change to the inserted installation media (CD / Disk) or change to the installation folder. 
Execute the batch file Setup_9x.bat, e.g. by double click. 
Execute the batch file Setup_NT4_W2K.bat, e.g. by double click.

For installing and configuring the driver you need administrator privileges under Windows 2000 / Windows NT (local privileges). Please ask your network administrator if neccessary. 

1.4.2 Configuration of HiPath TAPI 120

The configuration dialog

The configuration dialog is automatically activated after installation. You can change the settings after installation by activating the dialog via the Start - Settings - Control Panel - Telephone and Modem Options.

To configure HiPath TAPI 120 you proceed as follows:

After installation the configuration dialog is activated automatically: 
(Examples for the system HiPath 500): 

Select the system in the list field System. Possible entries are: 
HiPath 500
HG 1500
Depending on the selected system the field CSTA-Link shows one of the following connection types: 
for HiPath 500: CSTA via TCP/IP
for HG 1500: CSTA via VCAPI
It is not possible to edit the field value. 
Enter the Callnumber of the extension and the Name of the user in the appropriate fields. 
After selection of the system HG 1500 you can not edit the entries in the fields USBS-Callnummer, CAPI2032.DLL and CAPI-Controller. Only by simultaneous operation of VCAPI and CAPI with one PC adapter you can enter the driver and controller in these fields. 
If connected to the system HiPath 500 you have to enter the IP adress of the HiPath 500 in the field IP-Adress. This adress is determined during installation / configuration of the HiPath 500 system. 
If connected to the system HiPath 500 you have to enter the IP port of the HiPath 500 in the field IP-Port. The port number is determined during installation / configuration of the HiPath 500 system. 
Enter the HiPath 500 range of trunk access codes in the fields Trunk Access Code Start and Trunk Access Code Ende. Usually you dont need to change the recommended values (depending on the selected system) in this fields. 
Export / Import of the confifguration settings 
You can click on the Config Export or Config Import button for exporting / importing the configuration settings in / from a selected file. 
Save configuration settings 
Click on the Save button to save the settings. Quit the dialog by clicking on the Ok button. 
If you leave the dialog without saving your settings a message box appears: 

Click the Yes button if you want to change the actual settings. 

PC restart

You must restart he computer before the settings will take effect. Confirm the following mewssage with Yes:

1.4.3 Activation of the configuration dialog after installation

General

The configuration dialog is automatically activated after installation. For a later activation of the configuration dialogd proceed as follows:

Open Start - Settings - Control Panel. Double-click the symbol Phone and Modem Options and activate the entry HiPath TAPI 120/170 TAPI 2.2 SP

Click the Configure button. The configuration dialog appears. 

1.4.4 Uninstall HiPath TAPI 120

To uninstall HiPath TAPI 120 proceed as follows:

Open Start - Settings - Control Panel. Doubleclick the symbol Add/Remove Programs and activate the entry HiPath TAPI 120

Click the Change/Remove button and follow the instructions.
